The Doppler Orbitography and Radio-positioning Integrated by Satellite instrument (DORIS) was a microwave tracking system that was used to determine the precise location of the Envisat satellite. DORIS was based upon the accurate measurement of the Doppler shift of radio frequency signals transmitted from ground beacons and received on board the satellite.
