Minimize Sensor Description

One of the three instruments on-board ALOS was a Phased Array L-band (1270 MHz) Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR). PALSAR was a successor sensor to the synthetic aperture radar on-board JERS-1 (Japanese Earth Resource Satellite-1) with more advanced functions such as higher spatial resolution capability, variable off-nadir angles and additional modes such as full-polarimetry mode and ScanSAR mode.

More information on PALSAR instrument is available from the JAXA webpage.
