ALOS PRISM L1C European Coverage Cloud Free data collection now available for users

30 Aug 2023

As part of Earthnet’s Third Party Missions Programme framework, ESA is pleased to announce that the ALOS PRISM L1C European Coverage Cloud Free data collection is now available for research purposes. This collection is composed of a subset of ALOS-1 PRISM (Panchromatic Remote-sensing Instrument for Stereo Mapping) OB1 L1C products from the already offered ALOS PRISM L1C collection which opened to users at the beginning of this year.

This new cloud-free coverage over Europe offers 70% of the scenes with a cloud cover percentage of 0% and 30% with a cloud cover percentage of no more than 20%.

The Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS-1) was a Japanese Earth-imaging satellite from JAXA. It launched on 24 January 2006 and completed its operational phase on 12 May 2011 after failing due to a power anomaly. ALOS is part of ESA's Third Party Missions Programme, in which ESA has an agreement with JAXA to distribute data products from the mission.

The ALOS Prism L1C European Coverage Cloud Free data collection is available upon fast registration with approval (up to 2 days) through the Online Dissemination server.

Details on the data set specifications can be found on the data collection page.
