Data Quality
Data quality, which includes quality control, performance monitoring, and calibration and validation, is routinely carried out to ensure that EarthCARE meets its mission and data quality requirements.

EarthCARE Timeline Viewer
The EarthCARE Timeline Viewer is a JavaScript application, developed by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), running in your browser and can be used to quickly and easily browse the EarthCARE data products through time.

The CARDINAL Campaign Tools (CCT) Atmospheric Lidar (ATLID) simulator gitlab project, developed by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), provides a collection of tools that can be used to simulate ATLID observations, based on ground- or aeroplane-based optical properties profile measurements.

The Multi-Spectral Imager (MSI) Simulator Tool, developed by the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS), performs forward simulations of MSI-like Level 1 radiances and brightness temperatures using, for example, ground- or airborne-based measurements as input.

The OADS download tool is a Python script for downloading EarthCARE data from ESA’s Online Access and Distribution System (OADS). It is designed to simplify automated data access by allowing users to quickly search and download data via the command line.

ectools is a collection of Python tools developed by Shannon Mason (ECMWF) with contributions from ESA EarthCARE Level 2 processor developers, for input/output, postprocessing, and publication-quality plotting and analysis for EarthCARE Level 1 and Level 2 products.

The Orbit Prediction and Overpass Tool (OPOT), produced by the ESA EO Validation Data Centre (EVDC), generates and visualises satellite's overpasses for many ESA missions, meteorological missions and Third Party Missions.

Announcements of opportunity are occasionally opened relating to EarthCARE, for example, for new groups to participate in EarthCARE Cal/Val activities and gain early access to EarthCARE data products.
Calibration/Validation
Calibration activities ensure that the EarthCARE instruments are performing well and to their established baselines. Validation activities ensure that the EarthCARE data and products are meaningful and well characterised with respect to uncertainties due to sensitivity or resolution.
