How to Access Data
EO Sign In Authentication (Open): This collection is openly accessible but you will need to log in with an EO Sign In account, the authentication system used across ESA Earth Observation services, before downloading products.
Access via HTTPS
- Create or log into your EO Sign In account.
- Go to the ESA MAAP Explorer
- Browse or search for the product using the interactive map.
- Download product.
EarthCARE data can also be discovered and downloaded through the use of APIs (e.g. STAC) through the ESA MAAP Catalogue, using access tokens. Go to the MAAP Catalogue guide to learn more about how to use APIs and see the MAAP Explorer user guide for instructions on exploring, visualising, and accessing data interactively.

Collection Description
This EarthCARE collection contains the following data products:
- Level 2A (L2A): Single-Instrument Geophysical Products
Derived from individual instrument data onboard EarthCARE. These products provide detailed geophysical parameters and properties specific to each instrument's capabilities for example:- cloud properties derived from radar measurements,
- aerosol properties derived from lidar measurements.
They offer high-resolution insights into atmospheric phenomena.
- Level 2B (L2B): Synergistic Geophysical Products
Generated by combining data from multiple EarthCARE instruments (e.g. radar, lidar, radiometers). These products provide:- comprehensive synergistic geophysical datasets,
- an integrated view of cloud–aerosol interactions and atmospheric dynamics,
- enhanced accuracy and depth compared to single-instrument outputs.
They enable detailed studies of complex atmospheric processes.
