PROBA-1 CHRIS instrument

PROBA-1's main instrument was the Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (CHRIS), which had applications in atmosphere, land, agriculture and oceans and coast.

It acquired 13 square km scenes at 17 m spatial resolution in 18 user-selected visible and near-infrared wavelengths.

CHRIS was funded by the UK Space Agency (at the time the British National Space Centre (BNSC)) and Sira Electro-Optics Ltd, and developed/built by Sira Technology Ltd (formerly Sira Electro-Optics Ltd).

  • MODE 4 CHLOROPHYL BAND SET: Full swath width, 18 spectral bands, nadir ground sampling distance 17 m at 556 km
  • MODE 5 LAND CHANNELS: Half swath width, 37 spectral bands, nadir ground sampling distance 17 m at 556 km
