Minimize Mount Fuji, Japan

This week's image captured by Copernicus Sentinel-2 on 8 May 2019, shows Mount Fuji the highest volcano in Japan.

Located on the island of Honshu, some 100km south of Tokyo, Mount Fuji stands at 3776m tall and is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Fuji is one of Japan's three holy mountains, with the others being Mount Tate (The White Mountain) and Mount Haku ('standing mountain').

Although still an active volcano Mount Fuji last erupted in 1707. It was added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site in 2013. According to UNESCO, Mount Fuji has "inspired artists and poets and been the object of pilgrimage for centuries".
