Our tour of Landsat 8 and Landsat 5 satellite comparisons stops over the city of Palma de Mallorca, on the island of Mallorca (Majorca). The city produces shoes, woollen goods, pottery, crystal, glass, matches, cement, paper, and iron. There is also a thriving tourism industry. Palma was captured from the Moors in 1229. It has a Gothic cathedral, built between 1230 and completed in the early 17th century, with a chancel canopy by Catalonian architect Antoni Gaudí. Other landmarks include a castle that was once a Moorish palace; a former Spanish royal palace located above the Bay of Palma; and the 13th-century church of San Francisco. These images help show how the city has developed over time. In the comparison, it is possible to see the development of the city, particularly the suburbs, the airport and harbour.
