The Envisat satellite, launched in 2002 recently achieved 25,000 orbits. To celebrate the satellite circling our world a quarter of a million times, these two images feature views acquired on that 25,000th orbit.

This Level 1 image from the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) was acquired on 11 December 2006 over the Dominican Republic.

This Envisat ASAR Alternating Polarization Mode (APP) radar multi-colour layer image was acquired on 11 December 2006 over New Brunswick province (Canada).
