MERIS MER_FRS_2P is a Full-Resolution Geophysical Product for Ocean, Land and Atmosphere. The product is also specific to Water Leaving Radiance (Reflectance).

Each MERIS Level 2 geophysical product is derived from a MERIS Level 1b product and auxiliary parameter files specific to the MERIS Level 2 processing and distributed following the floating scene concept.

The auxiliary data include: Surface identification flags included in the level 1b and science/quality flags for the L2 parameters, Orbit state vector, Time correlation parameters, Latitude, Longitude, altitude and topographic corrections, Sun azimuth, Sun elevation, view azimuth, view elevation, Mean Sea Level pressure, Total column ozone, Total column water vapour, Wind speed.

The Level 2 FRS product covers the complete instrument swath. The product duration is not fixed and it can span up to the time interval of the input Level 0/Level 1. Thus the estimated size of the Level 2 FRS is dependent on the start/stop time of the acquired segment.

How to access this data

The MERIS Level 2 FRS data covering the entire archive from May 2002 to April 2012 has been systematically processed and made available online via FTP and HTTP upon Fast Registration since Q1/2015.

See related news on the MERIS FRS L2 bulk processing of 13 February 2015.

Yearly and global density maps are available to get a better overview of the MERIS FRS coverage.

The MERIS FR/FRS Level 2 on-demand production service has been phased out after the release of the full FRS L2 mission dataset online.
