The Status of the SCIAMACHY Active Thermal Control (ATC)
The Active Thermal Control System (ATC) is providing thermal stability to SCIAMACHY's optical bench module (OBM). Over the past 10 years in-orbit mission lifetime the ATC has proven extremely reliable. Although regular monitoring has revealed some degradation ??? less than what was predicted before launch ??? only a single adjustment was necessary so far to keep the OBM temperature within the specified limit. The ATC adjustment occurred in October 2008 in orbit 34643 [RD1 with referencing RD3-RD6].

TASTE-final-report-October-2008-October-2011.pdf
The present document is the final report of the three-year Multi-TASTE project (October 2008-October 2011). Multi-TASTE has provided ESA with MULTI-mission Technical ASsistance To the validation of atmospheric composition data acquired by Envisat and Third Party Missions (TPM).

TASTE - Correlative Database status and validation highlights
TASTE - Correlative Database status and validation highlights, March 2005. The TASTE project provides ESA with Technical ASsistance To Envisat atmospheric chemistry validation throughout the satellite lifetime. The project involves an international consortium gathering complementary expertise in remote sensing and satellite validation. Main tasks relate to the coordination of the consortium, the collection and delivery of correlative data to the ENVISAT Cal/Val database operated at NILU on behalf of ESA, geophysical validation studies based on comparisons between ENVISAT (GOMOS, MIPAS and SCIAMACHY) and ground-based data sets, and the valorisation of the validation results after concerted consolidation

SCIAMACHY-Exploring-the-Changing-Earths-Atmosphere.pdf
This comprehensive publication describes the SCIAMACHY mission - from the very first ideas to the current results. The targeted readership is not only the existing and potentially new SCIAMACHY data users from undergraduate student level up to researchers new in the fields of atmospheric chemistry and remote sensing but anyone who is keen to learn about SCIAMACHY's efforts to study the atmosphere and its responses to both, natural phenomena and anthropogenic effects.

SCIAMACHY-1b-to-2-OL-Processing-Algorithm-Theoretical-Basis-Document-Semi-Analytical-Cloud-Retrieval-Algorithm-for-SCIAMACHY-Envisat.pdf
This document gives scientific background and technical information about the Semi-Analytical CloUd Retrieval Algorithm SACURA, and its implementation at DLR-IMF as part of the SCIAMACHY off-line processor. SACURA implemented at DLR has basically the purpose to provide information for corrections of vertical columns of trace gases. Therefore relevant products are Cloud Top Height (CTH) and Cloud Optical Thickness (COT). However, in its original concept SACURA provides more then both parameters. This document focuses on scientific background information for these two parameters. Additionally, limitations of the algorithm are explained. Validation results for CTH are described as well as input and output file formats.
