GHGSat Objectives

Methane-Emission-Measurement
Methane emission measurement from a GHGSat observation of oil and gas infrastructure.

The GHGSat constellation is capable of providing site-specific methane measurements that enable stakeholders in the energy, resource, power generation, agricultural, waste management, and sustainability sectors to make informed decisions based on objective and timely data and analytics. Satellite-based data is particularly valuable for sites in remote or isolated areas where regular and consistent measurements by terrestrial methods may not be practical or cost-effective. Examples of measurable sites include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oil and gas wells
  • Compressor stations
  • Pipelines
  • Tailing ponds
  • Mines
  • Farms
  • Landfills
  • Power plants
  • Hydroelectric dams
