Hiroshima, situated on the Ota River delta, is divided into six islands by seven channel outlets, extending into Hiroshima Bay. The city, mostly flat, boasts hills to the northwest and northeast. Dominant in the image are mountain ranges descending from north to south, shaping the coast and harbours.
