Gaeta, Italy 2005

This multitemporal radar image of Italy's west coast, compiled from three SAR radar acquisitions by ERS-2, showcases the mountainous Circeo formation and coastal lakes, now part of San Felice Circeo National Park. Moving southward along the Gulf of Gaeta, historical sites such as Terracina, Sperlonga, and Gaeta emerge, with Gaeta positioned prominently on a peninsula north of a sweeping blue bay at mid-right. The mountains' leaning effect is due to side-looking radars in an ascending pass.
