Flood, China (Jiangsu), September 2004

In 2004, China experienced intense floods, notably affecting Jiangsu province. This led to widespread inundation and elevated water levels in rivers and tributaries throughout central and eastern regions. This radar multilayer image was acquired on 9 September 2004 over Jiangsu (also Kiangsu or Chiang-su) province in eastern China. The image comprises part of the Yangtze delta in the south and parts of the Huabei Pingyuan (North China Plain) in the north. The areas surrounding the Yangtze River, affected by the recent storms are highlighted in blue..
