The images are an ERS-2 SAR multi-temporal view of Athens, created by merging three separate images acquired on different dates at the Matera station. Athens is visible as a large bright area in the centre-left of the image. On the left of the city is the Piraeus natural harbour where many ships can be observed. The different colour of the ships correspond to the date of the colour applied. The same interpretation can be given to the sea currents: Red: 13 January 1996, Green: 05 July 2003, Blue: 22 May 1999.
