Volcanic Ash Monitoring - ESA/EUMETSAT Workshop

26-May - 27-May 2010

ESA/ESRIN, Frascati, Italy

On 14 April 2010 the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjalla erupted and had been ejecting immense plumes of ash and sulphur into the atmosphere. West winds transporting the plume to Europe caused major disruptions in flight traffic.

In response, ESA and EUMETSAT organised a two day workshop to take stock of Europe's remote sensing capabilities to address the impact of the Eyjafjalla eruption.
