The products for this collection can be downloaded using the following methods:
- CS2EO Platform: A dedicated platform for searching, visualizing, and downloading CryoSat products.
Access Steps:
- Go to the CS2EO Platform.
- Browse or search for the product.
- Download product.
- ESA MAAP Explorer: the web application to access Earth Observation (EO) data from the extensive catalogue of missions operated and supported by the European Space Agency (ESA).
EO Sign In Authentication (Open): This collection is openly accessible but requires users to log in with an EO Sign In account (a system used across ESA Earth Observation services) before any downloads can proceed.

- Browse or search for the product using the interactive map.

Collection Description
CryoSat-2 ThEMatic PrOducts (Cryo-TEMPO) are dedicated products covering five distinct thematic areas: Winter Sea Ice, Summer Sea Ice, Snow Depth, Land Ice, Polar Oceans, Coastal Oceans and Inland Waters. These products benefit from agile and state-of-the-art altimetry processing workflows, which utilise dedicated processing for each domain and optimise data fidelity across each thematic surface.
The simplified format and inclusion of fully traceable uncertainties are designed to make CryoSat-2 datasets accessible to new communities of scientific and service users, who traditionally may have lacked the technical expertise required to utilise previous products.
This CryoSat CryoTEMPO collection contains the following data products:
- Land Ice (TEMPO_POCA_LI)
The Cryo-TEMPO Land Ice Thematic Product comprises quality-controlled measurements of ice sheet surface elevation derived using dedicated processing algorithms for land ice surfaces. The Cryo-TEMPO Land Ice product encompasses both grounded and floating parts of Greenland and Antarctica (i.e. inclusive of ice shelves and floating ice tongues) and covers the full duration of the CryoSat-2 mission operation (2010-present).
- Winter sea Ice (TEMPO_POCA_SI)
The Cryo-TEMPO product provides radar freeboard and sea ice freeboard for both the northern and the southern Polar Oceans for the full CryoSat-2 data record. The Arctic Polar Ocean is bounded to the south by the 67° N parallel. The Antarctic Polar Ocean is bounded to the north by the 58° S parallel.
- Polar Ocean (TEMPO_POCA_PO)
The Cryo-TEMPO Polar Ocean covers the northern and the southern Polar Oceans. The Arctic Polar Ocean is bounded to the south by the 67° N parallel. The Antarctic Polar Ocean is bounded to the north by the 58° S parallel. The main parameters in the Polar Ocean Thematic Product are sea level anomaly and absolute dynamic topography. - Coastal Ocean (TEMPO_POCA_CO)
The Cryo-TEMPO Coastal Ocean Thematic Product covers the area of the European Seas (as defined in CMEMS, https://doi.org/10.48670/moi-00141 ) ranging from 30° W to 42° E in longitude and from 20° N to 66° N in latitude; this area encompasses the whole of the Mediterranean and Black Sea basins as well as the North-East Atlantic. The product spans the whole duration of the CryoSat-2 mission. The main products in the Coastal Ocean TDP are sea level anomaly and absolute dynamic topography.
- Inland Water (TEMPO_POCA_IW)
The Cryo-TEMPO Inland Water Thematic Product includes the water surface height over a set of land water bodies. This product provides water surface height over given Canadian, American and Swedish lakes, as well as the Po, Tiber, Danube and MacKenzie rivers. The main parameter in the Inland Water TDP is the water level relative to the ellipsoid.
- Summer sea ice (TEMPO_POCA_SS)
The Cryo-TEMPO summer sea ice product provides radar freeboard in the northern hemisphere north of 45° N and covers the months of May – September to complement the (winter) sea ice product.
- Snow depth (TEMPO_POCA_SD)
The snow depth is the main parameter of the Cryo-TEMPO Snow Depth on Sea Ice product. It consists in a monthly gridded product with a spatial resolution of 25 km. It is computed using the Cryo-TEMPO Winter Sea Ice product and the ATL10 version 6 product of ICESat-2.
