What is the ESA MAAP?
ESA’s Multi-mission Algorithm and Analysis Platform (MAAP) is a data access and discovery catalogue for products from ESA’s Earth Explorer, Heritage, and Third Party Missions.
The MAAP also provides a collaborative platform supporting analysis and visualisation of Earth observation data products.
The platform consists of two services:
- Data access: Containing a Catalogue with metadata of datasets to help people find data from different missions and the Explorer, which enables exploration, retrieval, and visualisation of data
- Product Algorithm Laboratory (PAL): A collaborative environment that enables users to:
- Run and develop algorithms
- Perform processing
- Analyse data with Jupyter Notebooks or PAL’s interface
- Configure processing workflows when new data become available
Browsing the catalogue is openly available, but access to download data or use the PAL requires an active account in ESA’s EO Sign In service.
There are dedicated PAL interfaces for the Biomass and EarthCARE missions. Access to the interfaces must be requested and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by ESA.
