Collection Description

The Aeolus Level 1B (L1B) products (ALD_U_N_1B) provides binary geolocated calibrated observational data. The Aeolus L1B product is calibrated using information on instrument offsets and dark currents, corrections for solar background and the instrument responses in both channels. It contains, amongst others, both Rayleigh and Mie signals from the Rayleigh channel filters and Mie channel spectrometer counts, the signal-to-noise ratios SNR´s, the scattering ratio, and the uncorrected Horizontal Line-of-Sight (HLOS) wind with respect to atmospheric temperature and pressure effects.

The L1B product is provided at both the measurement (~3 km) and observation (~87 km) horizontal resolution. The basic granularity is one L1B product file per orbit. The product ALD_U_N_1B is available as binary data block file (.DBL) with an additional header file (.HDR).
