Background

Following the successful 1st PolInSAR workshop held in ESRIN in January 2003, The European Space Agency hosted the 2nd international workshop on applications of polarimetry and polarimetric interferometry.

 

The workshop was held at ESRIN, Frascati, Italy on 17-21 January 2005.

Workshop recommendations are now available.

Participation

The Workshop was open to ESA Principal Investigators, scientists and students working in the field of SAR Polarimetry and Polarimetric Interferometry (Pol-InSAR), and to representatives from national, European and international space agencies.

Objectives

The main objectives of the workshop were to:

  • Provide a forum for scientific exchange
  • Present new results from the latest studies in the field
  • Present the geophysical parameters that can be retrieved and their accuracy
  • Assess the available Pol-InSAR tools and data sets
  • Demonstrate the latest techniques and users tools
  • Assess the state of the art in the field
  • Make recommendations for algorithm development and new products
  • Formulate recommendations for future missions and applications
  • Report on progress/status of recommentations of PolInSAR 2003

The workshop was organized around:

  • Papers/Posters selected by the scientific committee
  • Invited papers (ESA studies)
  • Round table discussions seeded with questions prepared by the Scientific Committee and ESA
