The currently 18 scientists within this group are involved in earth observation data analyses, monitoring dynamic processes such as floods, droughts, landuse change, or biomass development, to name only a few.

The group contributes to over 10 third party funded projects, mainly located in Asia. Dr. Kuenzer is scientific coordinator of the BMBF – MOST funded WISDOM project (Water related Information System for the Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta), and is coordinating further research initiatives in Asia, and Southeast Asia. She has lectured for the Universities of Wuerzburg, Vienna University of Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences, and the European Space Agency, ESA.

Dr. Kuenzer is head of the EARSeL Special Interest Group on Thermal Remote Sensing, member of EGU, DGPF, and DGG, and has contributed to > 30 SCI Papers, and > 60 conference contributions. She acts as a reviewer for 10 SCI journals from the field of remote sensing, environmental sciences, and geophysics. Next to applied remote sensing especially in the context of river basin management, her current main research interest is on image transformation, feature extraction, and classification.
