Title: Rain gauge networks in west, central and east Africa

Description: Scientists have used soil moisture data from ESA’s SMOS mission to correct high-resolution satellite-based estimates of precipitation in Africa. As part of the project, ground-based information from a network of rain gauges was used to validate these improved estimates.
