Title: Abundant rock glaciers are water resources in HMA

Description: Rock glaciers are abundant in the Poiqu basin, covering approximately 21 km2, which was more than 10% of the glacial area (approximately 190 km2) in 2015. With ongoing glacier ice melt, rock glaciers can become an increasingly important water resource. The figure shows a rock glacier inventory of the Poiqu basin using a true colour composite of a Copernicus Sentinel-2 image as a background, acquired on 12 September 2016.
