GEOSAT-2 Spain Coverage 2022 collection open to users

23 Feb 2024

ESA’s Earthnet Third Party Missions Programme presents the latest addition to its collection: the GEOSAT-2 Spain Coverage 2022.

GEOSAT-2, formerly known as Deimos-2, is a Spanish high-resolution satellite launched on June 19, 2014, and remains operational to this day. As the second satellite of the GEOSAT Earth Observation system, following GEOSAT-1, it became the first European fully private satellite capable of providing sub-metric multispectral imagery.

The GEOSAT-2 Spain Coverage 2022 collection offers a comprehensive dataset of 2022 data covering Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands. With a cloud cover of less than 10%, the available dataset boasts remarkable detail, offering imagery with a geolocation accuracy of < 4 m RMSE. This collection complements the already available GEOSAT-2 Spain Coverage 2021.

The GEOSAT-2 Spain Coverage 2022 collection includes the following product types:

  • Pan-sharpened: A four-band image resulting from adding the information of each multispectral band to the panchromatic band (1m resolution)
  • Bundle: Panchromatic (1m resolution) + Multispectral bands (4m resolution)

For those interested in accessing these products, detailed information on data specifications and access procedures can be found on the data description page.
