ICEYE is the world's first small SAR satellite constellation. Individual ICEYE SAR satellites form a constellation that enables unmatched imaging revisit rates on a global scale. The constellation provides different angle imaging multiple times a day for specified areas of interest. The constellation is constantly growing and will provide previously unavailable imaging capabilities and access, allowing quick tactical acquisitions as well as global revisit rates of three hours on average. Each satellite unit continues to introduce individual improvements on the system.
The initial ICEYE satellite missions are proof-of-concept missions which focus on demonstrating the capabilities of small satellite synthetic-aperture radar technology. ICEYE-X1, the first SAR satellite under 100 kg, was successfully launched in January 2018 followed by ICEYE-X2 in December 2018. Two more ICEYE SAR satellites were simultaneously launched in July 2019, and successfully added to ICEYE's commercial SAR satellite constellation.
Several new satellites each year
ICEYE continues to grow its SAR satellite constellation each year. Currently, the company successfully delivers data to customers worldwide from the three satellites. ICEYE has contracted launches for several new units over the next years. The pace at which new satellites are launched is built around the market needs both in data and information services.
Orbit optimised for change detection
The initial ICEYE SAR satellite constellation for 2020 is planned to be in orbit in several different inclinations. As the constellation grows, the objective is to provide daily interferometry and coherent change detection anywhere on Earth with a 24 hour ground track repeat.
SAR data that suits your operational need
X-band radar imaging is available at 1 x 1 m ground resolution as Spotlight and at 3 x 3 m ground resolution as Stripmap. The 20 x 20 m ground resolution ScanSAR mode is under development. Products include SLC, GRD, and map-projected files.
ICEYE has developed an innovative radar technology for under 100 kg satellites to better meet the needs of commercial and government customers. SAR technology and optimal resolution choices enable dramatically improved cost-effectiveness over traditional large-size radar satellites.

ICEYE's mission is to enable everyone to make better decisions, in a variety of industries, based on timely and reliable Earth observation data.
ICEYE is building a constellation of SAR satellites to support a service level where any location on Earth can be reliably imaged every one to three hours. ICEYE is committed to providing this service level by further developing and updating the ICEYE SAR satellite constellation on a frequent basis with new satellite models.
ICEYE’s living constellation ensures that there will always be a necessary amount of satellites available to provide reliable and timely data to customers. In addition to its satellites, ICEYE’s constellation approach ensures a sufficient ground station access and data processing capabilities are in place to support this newly available data stream.
ICEYE's approach to build a constellation of SAR satellites is to seek out commercial launch missions, both from conventional and new launch providers, to support the required imaging service level for ICEYE.
