This ALOS-1 PRISM image, taken on 21 April 2009, shows the city of Kotka in southern Finland and the nearby coastline along the Gulf of Finland. The image shows a mix of forests, urban areas, and many islands and peninsulas along the coast. The city of Kotka appears in the upper right part of the image, with its street layout and buildings showing up as brighter areas. Near the coast, is the large Port of Hamina-Kotka, with docks reaching into the sea. In this panchromatic image, the dark areas are water, while lighter areas show land and infrastructure.
