EO Sign In Authentication (Open): This collection is openly accessible but requires users to log in with an EO Sign In account (a system used across ESA Earth Observation services) before any downloads can proceed.

Access Steps:

1. Create or log in to EO Sign In account.
2. Go to the ESA Online Dissemination Service.
3. Browse or search for the collection. 
4. Download product.

The dissemination service provides the latest reprocessed Envisat SCIAMACHY higher level data.

The data is collection based and allows data browsing and download via treeview and filename search options.

Data download is available via HTTPS, including bulk download functionality. ESA internal users can use their ESAAD account to access the HTTPS Dissemination Service.

Access to ftps://hm-atmos-ds.eo.esa.int is available via common FTP clients using implicit FTP over TLS and your own EO Sign In credentials. For internal ESA users the ESAAD account cannot be used for FTP access.

Worldwide

This Envisat SCIAMACHY Level 1B (L1B) Geo-located atmospheric spectra V.10 dataset is generated from the full mission reprocessing campaign completed in 2023 under the ESA FDR4ATMOS project. 

This data product contains SCIAMACHY geo-located (ir)radiance spectra for Nadir, Limb, and Occultation measurements (L1). It also includes:

• supplementary monitoring and calibration measurements, 
• instrumental parameters detailing the operational status and configuration throughout the Envisat satellite lifetime (2002-2012),
• calibrated lunar measurements, including individual readings and averaged disk measurements.

The L1B product represents the lowest level of SCIAMACHY data made available to the users. The measurements undergo correction for instrument degradation applying a scan mirror model and m-factors. However, spectra are partially calibrated and require a further step to apply specific calibrations with the SCIAMACHY Calibration and Extraction Tool [SciaL1c]. 

For many aspects, the SCIAMACHY L1B version 10 product marks a significant improvement with respect to previous mission datasets, supplanting the L1B dataset version 8.0X with product type SCI_NL__1P. Users are strongly encouraged to make use of the new datasets for optimal results.

The new products are conveniently formatted in NetCDF. Free standard tools, such as Panoply, can be used to read NetCDF data.
