GOME Products Availability

The GOME Products are foreseen to be made available as from early summer 1996; more information to follow.

Radar Altimeter Products

29 April 1996

Altimeter OPR Products: French Processing and Archiving Facility (F-PAF) is starting the dispatch of all the Altimeter OPR products (data coverage starting as from June 1995 until present). The products should reach the users concerned as from May 1996. Altimeter FDC Products: Fast Delivery Copy products are available as from April 29th 1996 (data coverage starting from this date).

ERS-1/ERS-2 handover on June 3rd 1996

In order to allow extensive testing of the ERS-2 data-stream, both ERS-1 and ERS-2 will generate scatterometer data for a transition period due to last from April 29th to June 3rd (6 weeks). This measure is particularly geared at the Meteorological Offices operations.
As from Monday, 29th of April 1996 at 22:44 UTC (dump of the first orbit cycle 11-orbit number 5366), the ERS-2 fast delivery products will be nominally disseminated.

ERS-1/ERS-2 handover on June 3rd 1996

The ERS-2 satellite will become the nominal satellite as from June 3rd, 1996. In the meantime, and in order to avoid altering the ERS-1 SAR user-request planning or interfering with the end of the SAR tandem mission, SAR user-requests will be acknowledged on ERS-1 up to the end of ERS-1 cycle 156 (2nd June 1996). The ERS-1 orbit will continue to be maintained relatively to ERS-2 orbit within the limits imposed by SAR interferometry. The state of the platform and of its payload, together with the maintenance procedures will be applied periodically. This shall permit punctual SAR interferometry campaigns to be fulfilled in the future.

In order to monitor the draining of a huge amount of water caused by heavy volcanic activities recorded at the Grimsvotn volcano (Iceland), the following acquisition were planned.

Unfortunately the ATSR-2 scan mirror mechanism stopped working correctly on 21 March. Attempts are being made to solve the problem.
