Update on SMOS L3 Sea Ice Thickness Data Production v3

Due to scheduled maintenance on the NSF NCAR HPC systems the availability of the JRA-3Q auxiliary file have been discontinued. As consequence, the production of the SMOS L3 sea ice thickness data version 3.3 has been suspended since 2 June 2025. This suspension is temporary, and processing of the SMOS sea ice thickness products will resume as soon as the JMA JRA-3Q data becomes available again. We understand this may cause some inconvenience and we apologize for any disruption.
New version of SMOS Daily Wind Speed product released

A minor update of the SMOS Level-3 Daily Wind Speed product baseline has been released. Version 3.07 updates the coefficients of the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model to the latest release from December 2024.
New version of SMOS Soil Freeze and Thaw State product released

On 09 June 2025 a new version of the SMOS Level-3 Soil Freeze and Thaw State Product will be released.

ERS-1 ATSR phase E & F data are available to the users

New stories on Sundarbans coastal erosion and iceberg A23a in HEDAVI

New stories have been added in ESA’s HEDAVI (HEritage DAta VIsualisation) tool. They use Earth Observation data acquired from ESA’s Heritage missions and the Copernicus Sentinel missions to study coastal erosion and the movement of an iceberg over a period of 30 years.
