New service to go live: Envisat-ERS (A)SAR On-the-Fly Data Processing and Data Download service

ESA will shortly introduce an important change for users in the way to obtain Envisat and ERS (A)SAR data. Evolving from the traditional on-demand PAC production to the new On-The-Fly data processing will imply significant improvement for users being able to trigger (A)SAR processing and download directly from the ESA archive via the new (A)SAR data On-The-Fly (OTF) service.

Antarctic ice safety band at risk

Antarctica is surrounded by huge ice shelves. New research, using ice velocity data from satellites such as ESA's heritage Envisat, has revealed that there is a critical point where these shelves act as a safety band, holding back the ice that flows towards the sea. If lost, it could be the point of no return.

The relocation of the OCF/UK-PAC Multi-Mission infrastructure and services from Farnborough to the Airbus DS data centre in Newport (Wales) planned to start on 8 January 2016 has been postponed for a short period of time and will be re-scheduled in the next few days.
