Iarla is Innovations Director at AEA Group. He has 17 years experience in atmospheric science and environmental consulting in the UK and Europe. Iarla completed his PhD at Cambridge on atmospheric physics and chemistry, then for 3 years helped manage the European ozone research programme and advised the aerospace industry on climate impacts.

In 2000 he began consulting on urban air pollution, developing the World's first air pollution alert service for respiratory patients. His work received a UK Government Beacon Award in 2007. Recently he played a lead role in the National Infrastructure Systems Analysis for the UK Cabinet Office, led a project to develop a climate adaptation knowledgebase for the EU's Environment Directorate, has helped a major fast food company create a cost saving environmental strategy.

He is Chair of Defra's Air Pollution Forecasting Forum, a member of the UK GMES Climate Advisory Committee and Scientific Advisor to the Carbon Disclosure Project.
