Workshop on SMOS for Space Weather

16 Sep 2022

A hybrid event will take place from 12:00 to 16:00 UTC on 14 November 2022 to report on the results of ESA projects using SMOS data for Space Weather applications.

The SMOS Mission team at ESA is exploring an innovative application for SMOS data by researching how L-band data acquired by the MIRAS instrument can be used to retrieve measurements of Solar Flux and Total Electron Content in the ionosphere.

Discover examples of studies in which SMOS data are being used in this field.

Another goal of the workshop is to gather feedback from the Space Weather community and solar scientists about how SMOS data could support new products and future studies in the field.

The final agenda for the workshop will be issued on 31 October.

The workshop will take place at ESA’s ESRIN facility in Frascati, Italy, and remote online attendance will also be offered.

Anyone interested in attending the workshop, either at ESRIN or online, must confirm their participation by 15 October, by contacting Raffaele.Crapolicchio@esa.int
