Following-up on the recent communications about degraded attitude and magnetic data on Swarm L1B dataset starting from October and December 2018 and from 24 June 2023, the nominal quality of Level 1B data has been restored on 25 August 2023. 

A corrected MAGx_LR dataset has been created, which provides reliable data for the affected period, however this is a temporary resolution and it will be replaced by a fully reprocessed dataset in the future. The temporary corrected dataset is available on the Swarm Dissemination Server in the Advanced folder at the file path: /Advanced/Magnetic_Data/L1B_MAGxLR_0603.

The dataset covers the entire affected period.

• Alpha: from 12 December 2018 to 24 August 2023
• Bravo: from 17 October 2018 to 24 August 2023
• Charlie: from 18 December 2018 to 24 August 2023

The degraded Level 1B data are still contained in the nominal Level 1B folder on the Dissemination Server, so we recommend that everyone use the corrected dataset in the Advanced folder for any products from these affected periods.

The reprocessing campaign to fully restore the Level 1B Orbatt and Magnet datasets will begin soon and details of this will be announced once the reprocessed data are released.
