Last call for EarthCARE workshop abstracts

23 Jun 2023

The abstract submission deadline for the EarthCARE Pre-Launch Science and Validation Workshop is just a week away. If you would like to present your work at the workshop, submit your abstract by 30 June.

Update: The abstract submission deadline has now been extended to 10 July.

The ESA-JAXA Pre-Launch EarthCARE Science and Validation Workshop

The Earth Cloud, Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) is an upcoming mission jointly developed by ESA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to improve our understanding of the cloud-aerosol-radiation interactions and Earth radiative budget, so that they can be modelled with better reliability in climate and numerical weather prediction models. To achieve this objective, EarthCARE will measure the 3D structure of clouds, precipitation and aerosols, together with collocated observations of solar (shortwave) and terrestrial (thermal) radiation.

The EarthCARE Pre-Launch Science and Validation Workshop will take place from 13 to 17 November, at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. The workshop will gather the scientific community together to discuss the science of EarthCARE and its anticipated applications, and will foster collaboration between validation teams; enabling discussion of validation methods and opportunities.
