Gaps in Swarm-C data on 07 and 08 January 2024

09 Jan 2024

On 07 January 2024 at 08:22:48 UTC, an anomaly occurred on Swarm Charlie STR instrument triggering an Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem fallback to Coarse Pointing Mode, with a consequent switch-off of all the on-board instruments.

The issue has been promptly handled, the spacecraft has been commanded to Fine Pointing Mode on 08 January 2024 at 09:01:05 UTC and all the instruments have been switched back on between 07 and 08 January 2024:

  • STR switched on at 07/01/2024 21:56:54 UTC
  • GPSR switched on at 07/01/2024 23:32:25 UTC
  • VFM switched on at 08/01/2024 10:29 UTC
  • ACC switched on at 08/01/2024 10:50 UTC
  • EFI switched on at 08/01/2024 13:35 UTC

As a consequence, gaps have been observed in these time intervals in L1B FAST production, and are expected in all operational L1B and L2 Cat-2 data as well.
