Typhoon Songda, September 2004

Typhoon Songda, locally known as Nina, struck Japan on 05 September 2004. Previously, Songda had impacted other islands in the Pacific, such as Agrihan. The typhoon brought torrential rains and strong winds, causing widespread damage and leading to evacuations. These Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometre (MERIS) images, acquired in late August and early September, illustrate the storm's progression across the Pacific Ocean.
