Rion-Antirion Bridge: A Satellite Perspective from 1999 to 2019

These Sentinel-2 and Landsat-7 images, spanning 20 years, showcase the Rion Antirion Bridge in Greece. As one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges, it faces unique engineering challenges due to the strait's conditions: deep water, loose sediment seabed, seismic activity, and strong winds. Inaugurated on August 7, 2004, just before the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the bridge's first official crossing was by Olympic torchbearers.
