Oil Spill In South Korea, December 2007

This image, captured by the Envisat satellite, depicts an oil spill along the western coast of Taean, South Korea. On December 10, 2007, the Hebei Spirit oil tanker collided with a barge, affecting the ocean and coastline, and impacting the livelihoods of fishermen and residents in the region. Cleanup efforts mobilized tens of thousands of volunteers and lasted several years.
