Nubian Region (Africa), 2004

This Envisat satellite image from August 2004 captures the Nubian Region, spanning southern Egypt and northern Sudan. In the lower left, the Bab el Mandeb strait, which separates the Arabian Peninsula from Africa and connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, is clearly visible. The image also shows the eastern coastlines of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, while a sandstorm is visible on the western coast.
