Niagara Falls: A Satellite Perspective from 1992 to 2017

These satellite images of Niagara Falls, spanning 25 years, were captured by Landsat 5 and 8. The falls, formed over 12,000 years ago, resulted from the retreat of glaciers, allowing water from Lake Erie to flow over the Niagara Escarpment. Over time, erosion has shifted the waterfall approximately 11 km upstream, forming the Niagara Gorge.
