Flood,Tuscany (Italy), October 1992

In October and November of 1992, Florence, Italy, experienced heavy rains that led to flooding, particularly in the marshy areas northeast of Mt. Piasani. This ERS multi-temporal image captures the towns of 'Padule del Fucecchio' and 'La Navarecchia' (highlighted in blue), located between Pisa and Florence. The Arno River is visible at the bottom of the image. The image was created by merging two ERS satellite images acquired before and during the event to highlight the flooded areas.
