Bosphorus (Turkey), 2004

This multitemporal colour composite SAR image centres over the Bosporus Strait in northwest Turkey, separating its European side (Rumeli, left) from its Asian side (Anadolu, right). The strait connects the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea and is 30 km long, ranging from 750 metres to 3,700 metres in width. Istanbul, a bright area in the image, straddles the strait and includes the Golden Horn harbour.
