The 27th IUGG General Assembly was held from 8 to 19 July 2019 at the Palais des Congrès in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The event offered the opportunity for participants from Canada and from around the world to come together and share their science and culture. 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of IUGG and during the assembly, participants looked back on the accomplishments of the previous century of Earth and space science research, and forward to the next century of scientific advancement.
The assembly hosted scientific activities, including special public lectures, keynote Union lectures and a wide variety of themed sessions. Particularly of relevance for those interested in ESA data, the "New discoveries in Earth's deep interior" session featured the Swarm and GOCE missions.
