How to Access Data

Fast Registration with Approval (Restrained)

  1. Go to the ESA User Services Portal
  2. Register or log in to EO Sign In - Users are required to provide their institutional email address when registering a new account
  3. Submit the form for accessing the data
  4. The request will be evaluated by ESA, which normally takes up to 2 days
  5. Upon successful evaluation, you will receive a confirmation email
  6. A second email will follow with details of where to download the data
  7. Search and download the products from the dissemination service (via a map).

All products are freely accessible in accordance with ESA’s Earth observation data. An active EO Sign In account is required to download the products.

The products are available for download via the ESA Third Party Missions (TPM) dedicated dissemination service and catalogue the data is collection based and allows data browse and download through the treeview as well as via geographical search using a clickable zoom map.

PlanetScope products can also be discovered through ESA's Exploring Earth service, which allows users to browse and download products among the available datasets from ESA and Third Party Missions and instruments, using various criteria (spatial, temporal).

New users can register an account on EO Sign In.

For further information about the EO Sign In Service you can visit TellUs.

Should you need support to access the data, please contact EOHelp.

Collection Description

The PlanetScope ESA archive collection consists of PlanetScope products requested by ESA supported projects over their areas of interest around the world and that ESA collected over the years. The dataset regularly grows as ESA collects new products.

  • The Basic Analytic scene (4 and 8 bands) is non-orthorectified, not mapped to a cartographic projection, calibrated, multispectral imagery product, corrected for sensor artifacts, no correction for geometric distortions, and transformed to Top of Atmosphere (at-sensor) radiance
  • The Ortho Analytic scene (3, 4 and 8 bands) is orthorectified, projected on a cartographic map (UTM/WGS84), calibrated, multispectral imagery product that is radiometrically-, sensor-, and geometrically- corrected, and transformed to Top of Atmosphere (at-sensor) radiance
  • The Ortho Visual scene (3 bands) is orthorectified, color-corrected, RGB imagery product, optimized for the human eye, distortions caused by terrain removed, providing images as they would look if viewed from the perspective of the satellite.
  • The Ortho Analytic Surface Reflectance scene (4 and 8 bands) is orthorectified and radiometrically corrected to ensure consistency across localized atmospheric conditions, and to minimize uncertainty in spectral response across time and location.
  • The Ortho Tiles are multiple orthorectified scenes in a single strip that have been merged and then divided according to a defined grid. Radiometric and sensor corrections are applied, the imagery is orthorectified and projected to a UTM projection.

Spatial coverage: Check the spatial coverage of the collection on a map available on the Third Party Missions Dissemination Service.

As per ESA policy, very high-resolution imagery of conflict areas cannot be provided.
