EO Sign In Authentication (Open): This collection is openly accessible but requires users to log in with an EO Sign In account (a system used across ESA Earth Observation services) before any downloads can proceed.

Access Steps:

1. Create or log in to EO Sign In account
2. Go to the Dissemination Service
3. Browse or search for the product using the interactive map. 
4. Download product.

This dataset contains Landsat-3 Return Beam Vidicon (RBV) products, acquired by ESA by the Fucino ground station over its visibility mask. The data (673 scenes) are the result of the digitalization of the original 70 millimetre (mm) black and white film rolls.

The RBV instrument was mounted on board the Landsat 1 to 3 satellites (1972 – 1983) and provided imagery with 80 metre resolution. It consisted of three independent, co-aligned television cameras, one for each spectral band:

• band 1: blue–green
• band 2: yellow–red
• band 3: near-infrared (NIR)

For Landsat-3, the RBV system was redesigned to use two cameras operating in a single broad spectral band (green to near-infrared, 0.505–0.750 µm). These cameras were mounted side by side and offered:

• panchromatic spectral response
• higher spatial resolution compared to Landsat 1 and 2
• swath of about 90 km per camera (total swath: 180 km)
• spatial resolution of 40 m
