Information on the historic IPF2 baseline for CryoSat Ice Products is provided in the table below.

The current version of IPF2 is listed below, followed by information in the corresponding table providing the:

  • IPF installation date
  • Changes with respect to the last IPF version
  • Various processor versions corresponding to the IPF update

IPF2 vN1.0

First official release of the NRT IPFs. In order to enable the generation of NRT SAR and SARIn products in near real time (2-3 hours after acquisition), the NRT chain was separated from the existing Baseline-D IPFs. This allows processing to use the L0 Star Tracker products instead of the Star Tracker ATTREF products without delay.

IPF2 vN1.1.1

 

Upgrade of the CryoSat Ice Processors to Baseline-D. This is a major SW upgrade and introduces significant evolutions to the processors with respect to Baseline-C. The update of IPF2 includes:

  • New NetCDF format
  • Freeboard computation in SARIn mode
  • Improvements to sea ice and land ice retrackers
  • Resolution of a number of known data quality anomalies.

Minor update of the Baseline-C FDM processors to update the Explorer Geo Correction v4.4, and allow Baseline-C FDM production to be maintained temporarily in overlap with the Ice Baseline-D processors.

SW version issued to fix an anomaly with the attitude information fields in the L2 SAR and L2i products (all modes). FDM has not been modified at this stage. Changes implemented in this update:

  • Roll, Pitch, Yaw and Star Tracker ID fields no longer contain zero values in the L2 SAR and L2i products (all modes).

SW version issued following a major IPF upgrade. This SW is used to process all products marked by the new Baseline-C and introduces major evolutions to the processors with respect to Baseline-B. The update includes:

  • L2 product format and content changes;
  • Refinement of the OGOG and CFI land-ice retrackers (LRM);
  • New retracker for land ice (LRM);
  • New retracker and freeboard activation (SAR);
  • Use of new Arctic MSS (SAR), Antarctica and Greenland DEM (SARIn), updated Slope Model (LRM);
  • Fix of several ARs from the previous IPF2 Vk1.2;
  • Updated configuration parameters in the PCONF, IPFDB and IPF Task Tables.

 

*L2 and L2i LRM, SAR, SARIn & GDR data from validity 22/02/2015 to 01/04/2015 is a hybrid Baseline-C, using the old Baseline-B orbit model.

SW version issued to implement amendments to the processor Task Tables. No changes were made to the processor executables or PCONF files. This update includes:

  • Update of all standard processor Task Tables to make the use of certain auxiliary data files mandatory in Offline production.
  • The fix of several ARs related to Task Tables from the previous IPF1 Vk2.0

  • The fix of several ARs from the previous IPF2 Vi1.0;

  • Updated configuration of the sea-ice discrimination algorithm;
  • Integration of Earth Explorer 3.7.4.1 CFI libraries.

  • Addition of sigma0 computation in SAR/SARIn/SID chains;
  • Modified setting of GDR filename start and stop validity times;
  • Handling of invalid coherence values in SARIn chain.
