Swarm non-gravitational acceleration and thermosphere density data reprocessed

12 Sep 2019

The non-gravitational acceleration and thermosphere density data, both derived from the GPS receiver data, were reprocessed for the entire period from launch in November 2013 until July 2019 for all three Swarm satellites.

The new datasets are improved on the basis of a high-fidelity satellite geometry and aerodynamic modelling as well as a more advanced radiation pressure modelling.

The baseline counter, which is the first two digits of the last four-digit number in the filename, was incremented for both datasets. I.e. the ACCxPOD data products that contain the new non-gravitational acceleration data have baseline "03" and the DNSxPOD data products that contain the new thermosphere density data have baseline "02".

The new data products are available on the Swarm dissemination server in the folders:

  • /Level2daily/Latest_baselines/ACC/POD
  • /Level2daily/Latest_baselines/DNS/POD

Please refer to the Level 2 Data Handbook for a detailed description of the contents of the data products.
