Minimize Vertical columns and stratospheric profiles of various trace gasses (SCI_OL__2P)

Level 2 data products are final geolocated geophysical parameters. The monitoring of Level 2 data allows detecting anomalies in the retrieval processes.

With the activation of the SCIAMACHY Level 2 processor Version 5.01, the operational Fast Delivery data processing of Level 2 products started at D-PAC. With this new service ESA provided to the users within 24 hours from data acquisition the full SCIAMACHY Level 2 products based on Level 1b near real-time data and predicted instead of consolidated auxiliary files.

Minimize Performance and Quality

The monitoring of the SCIAMACHY Level 2 products is performed though a number of activities summarized in different reports and maps generation.

The Quality Readme  file for SCIAMACHY Level 2 processor SGP (Version 5.02)  products (latest version) provides details on the processor upgrades. The products are available to users via Fast Registration.

 

Daily Reports

The main objective of the SCIAMACHY Daily Reports is to provide a daily monitoring of the mission and of the operational data processing chains. The daily reports allow a quick detection of any anomaly in the instrument performance or data processing. The monitoring and reporting is made using the QUADAS tool which ingests the received products into long term databases and generates the html reports. The QUADAS quality monitoring for SCIAMACHY is implemented for all the level of production and includes content and consistency checks.

  • The Fast Delivery Daily Reports were based on the SCIAMACHY Level 2 Fast Delivery products, processed with the  processor version 5.02. Fast Delivery products use as input Level 1b Near Real Time (NRT) data and auxiliary information available at the time of product generation. 
  • The OFL Daily Reports were based on the OFF-line production, processed with the processor version 5.02. The off-line Level 2 data are based on consolidated Level 1b products and benefit from a posteriori knowledge of calibration information and satellite’s attitude and state.

Bi-Monthly Reports

The main objective of the SCIAMACHY Bi-Monthly Reports was to give, on a regular basis, the status of SCIAMACHY instrument performance, data acquisition, results of anomaly investigations, calibration activities and validation campaigns. The SCIAMACHY Bi-Monthly Report is composed of analysis results obtained by the Instrument Data quality Evaluation and Analysis (IDEAS) team, combined with inputs received from the different groups working on SCIAMACHY operation, calibration, product validation and data quality (SOST-DLR, SOST-IFE, and SRON).
