Level 0 data products contain telemetry data as received from the instrument. The level 0 monitoring provided a first check of the operational processing performance, allowing detection of anomalies in the acquisition and transmission of the instrument source packets. Furthermore it was important to check the instrument behavior, especially house keeping data like detector temperatures.
Performance and Quality
The monitoring of these products was performed through a number of activities summarized in daily and monthly reports.
The main objective of the GOMOS Daily Reports was to provide a daily monitoring of the mission and of the operational data processing chains. The daily reports allowed a quick detection of any anomaly in the instrument performance or data processing. The monitoring and reporting was made using the QUADAS tool which ingested the received products into long term databases and generated the html reports. The QUADAS quality monitoring for GOMOS was implemented for all the level of production and included content and consistency checks.
The GOMOS Monthly Reports documented the status and changes to the GOMOS instrument, its data processing chain, and its data products. It used to report, on a regular basis, on the GOMOS instrument performance, data acquisition, anomaly investigations, calibration activities and validation campaigns. The Monthly Report was composed of analysis results obtained by the IDEAS team, combined with inputs received from the different entities working on GOMOS operation, calibration, product validation and data quality. These teams participate in the GOMOS Quality Working Group (QWG): European Space Agency (ESRIN-PCF, ESOC, ESTEC-PLSO), ACRI, Service d'Aeronomie, Finnish Meteorological Institute, IASB-Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy, Astrium Space, ECMWF. In addition, the QWG interfaces with the Atmospheric Chemistry Validation Team.
